Bharath starring ‘ Aarumugam ' has arrived today. Suresh Krishna direccted ' Aarumugam ', which is almost a remake of his Super Star Rajinikanth Superhit movie ' Annamalai '. Let us see how far the flick entertained the audiences.
Story
Aarumugam ( Bharath ) is a poor who sells idlis on the streets along with his father ( Ilavarasu ), sister ( Sarnya Mohan ) and side kick ( Karnas ). He has close friend Karthik ( Sathya ) who is from very rich family. His sister Malini Devi ( Ramya Krishna ) is a business person. She hates Karthik 's deep friendship with Arumugam . Arumugam is in love with his childhood sweetheart Yamini ( Priyamani ).
Armugam ownd a piece of land in center of the city since it has the grave of his mother ( Seetha ). Malini Devi eyes on a Aarumugam 's land. She plays all dirty tricks to separate her brother's friendship with Aarumugam and keeps her hand on the grave and after his mother's grave is bulldozed. Malini bring the Armugam family to the streets. Besides, Aarumugam 's sister also gets raped. Now it is the turn of Aarumugam to take revenge on her. How he does that and what role does Yamini play in these forms the rest of the story.
Performance
Bharath with his rugged look once again portrayed in mass action flick. His voice base and punch while delivering heavy dialogues are to be improved.
Priyamani is the only saving grace in the movie. She looks extremely cute in those dresses. Priyamani has shown enough of oomph and that worked well on screen.
Ramyakrishna is at his best and is very apt for Villain role. She has maintained the same tempo as in Padayappa . She justified her role. Saranya Mohan is very simple and quiet. Others are okay.
Technical Department
The film is lacking freshness and the director is solely responsible for that. Director Suresh Krishna has given a mixture of Padayappa and Annamalai . The production values are good but the subject matter is weak. Deva 's music not up to the mark and average rerecording. Cinematography by S K Bhupathi was impressive. Editing was required at few places, costumes and art department were efficient
Analysis:
Aarumugam is a routine and out dated mass entertainer that would have worked in the mid 90s. There are no surprise twists or turns in the narration. On a whole the screenplay is straight and flat. The film has not fulfilled all expectations. Aarumugam will have a hard time convincing audiences.
